Workshop 1 - Demystifying trauma therapy: Application of the 3-Phase Trauma Therapy Model

This workshop demystifies the ‘how to’ of trauma recovery therapy by providing a robust clinical framework for the therapeutic process.

Key learning objectives

·    Apply principles of trauma-informed practice and the 3-Phase Trauma Therapy Model to the trauma recovery process.

·    Build practitioner awareness of which phase(s) their work with clients is located in, and identify and sequence therapeutic goals accordingly.

·    Integrate the use of the 3-Phase Trauma Therapy Model with play-based therapeutic approaches and the Play Therapy Dimensions Model – Revised (PTDM–R).

·    Participate in reflective and experiential activities to enhance integration of theory to practice.

PLEASE NOTE:  This workshop is designed to augment our core play-based training workshop – “Child counselling: An integrative approach harnessing the power of play and neuroscience”. However, its principles are applicable across the community services sector for those working with children and families who have experienced trauma and we invite you to attend. Pre-workshop material will be provided to those who have not attended our core workshop to scaffold this learning experience. 

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This workshop is highly relevant for psychologists, social workers, counsellors, occupational therapists etc. It is also suitable for those working with vulnerable children and families across the community services sector such as family support services, child safety and OoHC.

Workshop 2 - Balancing the tightrope: A process-oriented, relationship-based approach to supervision 

 Exploring beyond the surface of competence and confidence, this workshop aims to support supervisors balance on the tightrope of the supervisory relationship to promote safety for deep learning.

Key learning objectives

·    Identify the stages, phases and processes of therapist development

·    Consider supervisee safety through the application of interpersonal neuroscience principles

·    Explore supervisor use of self through the lens of neuroleadership

·    Conceptualise a range of supervisory situations and responses through these frameworks

·    Participate in reflective and experiential activities to enhance integration of theory to practice
