This workshop demystifies the ‘how to’ of trauma recovery therapy by providing a robust clinical framework for the therapeutic process, and focussing on interventions that are neurobiologically sensitive for the child.

KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

·    Enhance understanding of the neurobiology of play, distress, trauma and recovery.

·    Integrate the use of play into existing evidence-based practice approaches with children.

·    Apply principles of trauma-informed practice, the 3-Phase Trauma Therapy Model, and the Play Therapy Dimensions Model – Revised (PTDM–R) to the therapeutic process when using play-based approaches.

·   Build practitioner self-awareness of their own capacities when using play-based approaches with children through engagement in experiential activities using a range of play therapy mediums.
